Ella Austin Community Center (EACC) is participating in #GivingTuesday to celebrate a digital online global day of giving. #GivingTuesday is held annually after the popular shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday. It inspires everyone to kick-off their holiday giving season by giving back to the charities and causes they support. This year #GivingTuesday is on December 1.
“We encourage everyone to take part in supporting Ella Austin,” expresses the CEO of EACC, Anthony E. Hargrove. “During this time of year, with the rush of getting all the holiday shopping done, we want to take a moment and remember the reason behind the season. Please give what you can on December 1 to help improve the lives of those who may not be as fortunate.”
#GivingTuesday was conceptualized as a new way of linking individuals and causes to strengthen communities and encourage giving. In 2014, the third year of the movement, #GivingTuesday brought together 30,000 partners in 68 countries and registered 32.7 million impressions on Twitter, with its eponymous hashtag mentioned 698,600 times.
“We have been incredibly inspired by the generosity in time, efforts and ideas that have brought our concept for a worldwide movement into reality,” said Henry Timms, founder of #GivingTuesday. “As we embark on our fourth year of #GivingTuesday, we are encouraged by the early response from partners eager to continue making an impact in this global conversation.”
