Eastside Promise Neighborhood

The Eastside Promise Neighborhood unites institutional and resident stakeholders to leverage and strengthen the neighborhood’s assets and resources so that children and families are inspired to stay, grow, graduate… and stay. The Eastside Promise Neighborhood is home to 17,955 people readily striving in the face of serious socio-economic conditions. It is an area rich in San Antonio’s history with more than 50 churches, many of them serving African-American populations, 296 private businesses, several social service organizations and six schools.

EastPoint San Antonio Promise Zone

The EastPoint Promise Zone (EPZ) is an initiative of the City of San Antonio, in partnership with the United Way of San Antonio and Bexar County, the San Antonio Housing Authority, San Antonio for Growth on the Eastside (SAGE) and SA2020, along with the aid of federal grants – works to drive innovative transformation through various educational, housing, economic and quality of life initiatives in a 4 square mile area located on the Eastside of San Antonio.

Comerica Bank

The Comerica Community Resource Center located in Ella Austin provides computers, Wi-Fi access, financial education books and material focused on topics ranging from saving and budgeting to retirement planning and fraud.

Goodwill Good Careers Center

Eastside residents now have access to job search and career services located at the Ella Austin Community Center. Housed within the Eastside Promise Zone, the Eastside Good Careers Center focuses on empowering residents with education and skills training needed to obtain jobs and build long-term, successful career paths.

Kids Cafe

The Kids Cafe program provides free meals and snacks to low-income children. Besides providing hot meals, some of the programs also offer kids a safe place to get involved in educational, recreational and social activities. The Food Bank and Ella Austin have created the Kids Cafe with support from the ConAgra Foods Feeding Children Better Foundation and America’s Second Harvest — The Nation’s Food Bank Network.


Established in 2008, the contemporary arts festival Luminaria has astounded audiences with works by featured regional, national and international artists.   This unique San Antonio celebration of the arts presents new works and Texas premiers by dancers, actors, poets, comedians, filmmakers, musicians, designers, muralists, composers, and visual artists.

Select Federal Credit Union

Select Federal Credit Union has partnered with Ella Austin to open a branch inside the Community Center. Banking hours are Mon & Weds from 10am to 5pm. Stop by and check them out.

Urban Strategies

With an office located at EACC, Urban Strategies, a national not-for-profit corporation, works with developers to rebuild neighborhoods. Their goal is to lead distressed urban core residential communities and low-income families toward positive social and economic integration.


VITA – Income Tax Assistance

VITA volunteers provide free income tax assistance to taxpayers who make under $60,000 per year. This service is available at EACC and helps individuals claim important tax credits such as the  Earned Income Tax Credit and the Child Tax Credit.
